AEROSMITH: Live Disc on the Way?

While Aerosmith work on their first studio album of original material since 2001's Just Push Play, a live release might also be in the works. In his latest online post, assistant tour manager John B. writes he is "almost positive" that last year's show at FenwayPark in Boston "will see the light of day sometime soon." Casey Patrick Tebo, Aerosmith's video director, captured the show, a double-bill with another legendary Boston band, J. Geils.

Aerosmith recently filmed a video for CampFelix, a camp for children in need. Actress and director Penny Marshall put it together. John B. says it features the band and "numerous other celebrities singing 'Walk this Way' with different lyrics. Steven [Tyler] redid his vocals moments before the video was shot."

NIRVANA: Nevermind, It's Tribute Time

With the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind coming up in September, it's no surprise that people are already marking the milestone. The August issue of Spin has such musicians as Eddie Vedder, The Black Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Nirvana drummer/Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl reflecting on the album. And the magazine has assembled a tribute album called Newermind that features Nirvana's Unplugged buddies The Meat Puppets covering "Smells Like Teen Spirit." AEROSMITH Hits The Studio

AEROSMITH entered the studio on Tuesday, July 5 with producer Jack Douglas to begin recording its long-awaited 14th studio album. "One word bout 1st day n studio 'Inspiring.'" drummer Joey Kramer tweeted yesterday. He added, "No words can describe how inspired I'm feeling in the studio right now. It's a beautiful thing." He also tweeted a photo of himself in a recording studio with Douglas (see below).

In a videotaped message that was released via AEROSMITH's official web site, bassist Tom Hamilton stated about re-teaming with Douglas, "For those of you who don't know who Jack is, he's the guy who we worked with, producing our best albums of the '70s — 'Get Your Wings', 'Toys In The Attic' and 'Rocks'. And it's really gonna be cool, because there's no one that knows more about the soul of this band and the creative part of this band [than] Jack. We worked with him on [2004's covers CD] 'Honkin' On Bobo', but that wasn't all original material — most of that was not original material. This time it's gonna be all-new AEROSMITH songs."

He continued, "When people say, 'What was it like to work with Jack back then?' all I can say is we just laughed the whole time; there was always laughter going on, and fun, but at the same time really digging deep to get performances that were even better than we thought we could do."

AEROSMITH's new CD is being recorded in the Massachusetts studio that the band built six years ago, will be AEROSMITH's first set of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play" and first studio offering since 2004's covers CD, "Honkin' On Bobo".

The plan to resume work on a new disc follows the completion of singer Steven Tyler's first season as a judge on "American Idol". The band, minus Perry, did get together for a week earlier this year in Los Angeles to work on new material.

AEROSMITH and Tyler almost went their separate ways in late 2009, but reunited and toured last year. However, Tyler then stunned his bandmates by taking the "Idol" job, which pushed back work on the already-delayed new record.

AEROSMITH: Back to Work

Joe Perry has once again confirmed what he first said last month -- Aerosmith will get together next month in their Boston studio to once again start work on their next album.

Writing on Twitter, he says, "Whole band has plans to go into the studio with [producer] Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aero CD." In the meantime, he says he has been "laying down some new tracks [and] been listening to fans comments over last couple of years [and] putting that in the creative blender."

Earlier this year all the members except Perry got together in Los Angeles to write new material. Their last album of original material was 2001's Just Push Play. Douglas was behind the board for some of the band's best albums, including Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic and Rocks.

PEARL JAM: Book Release Set

Pearl Jam Twenty, the companion book to the upcoming film documenting the band's two decades, will publish on September 13th. It features a foreword by Cameron Crowe, who directed the film, as well new interviews about the group with Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl.

BRET MICHAELS Responds To NIKKI SIXX's Latest 'Trash-Talking'

Bret Michaels has responded to Nikki Sixx's recent "trash-talking," inisisting that the MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist did, in fact, apologize to the POISON singer for saying "a lot of bad crap" about Bret's band.

In a recent interview with The Arizona Republic, Michaels claimed that Sixx said he was "really sorry" about some negative comments his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates made about POISON. A few days later, Sixx took to his personal Twitter page in order to "clarify" that he never apologized to Bret for derogatory statements that MÖTLEY made about POISON, explaining that what he did say was "I personally never had anything against you guys as a people but MÖTLEY just sorta thought you sucked as band but let's give the fans what they want and go out and have a good time."

During an exclusive interview with Michaels yesterday (Wednesday, May 18), AOL's Noisecreep asked the rocker if he felt comfortable commenting on the recent Sixx mudslinging.

"No, I love it and I hope you can help me put this to rest," Michaels said. "I'm going to be very blunt and honest. When my career started, Nikki and I hung out and I remember telling him there were some CRÜE songs that I absolutely liked — I took a positive approach to things. You can look back at old photos me and Nikki with our Harley's. We used to ride together because we had a house down the street from each other. At the time, both of our careers had just started and our records had hit. We would go out and party together, I would even join the CRÜE on stage and sing. Everything was great.

"Now at one point – I think it was in the mid-'90s – POISON and BON JOVI were playing the arenas. Our 'Native Tongue' album [1993] had sold a million copies and BON JOVI's album, 'Keep The Faith' [1992], was at about 1.5 million or something and at one point in the middle there, MÖTLEY CRÜE changed singers all this stuff."

"That's around the period when Nikki decided to brand his band differently," Michaels continued. "What confused me about that time period was when Nikki said that Vince [Neil, CRÜE singer] and I were kind of ridiculous. Now these are his words, 'You and Vince are kind of the same — you don't really pick and choose your fans, you just kind of go out and play music.' Well, I thought that's what music was about. I didn't know I was supposed to decide which fan can like or not like my music.

"I did Nikki's radio show about two months ago and it was an absolutely great day. We talked about the tour and everything was cool. Now on the show he says to me, 'Bret, man, what's going on? Let's take a picture together,' and so on. We also did all of this television press for the tour in Los Angeles together and everything was great.

"He even apologized to me and said, 'I sort of said a lot of bad crap about you guys, but you're actually a relevant band,' and he went in and said some other good stuff about a month ago. I got a text from Nikki two weeks ago saying, 'Hey bro, excited to see you on the road!' But then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I hear about him talking trash about us again. I can't keep up [laughts]!"

Sixx previously said about CRÜE's decision to embark on a tour with POISON and "special guest" NEW YORK DOLLS, "One of the things MÖTLEY CRÜE said was that we would never tour with POISON because we were sort of punk / heavy metal / glam, we came out of the very, very early '80s and took what we did very... it was very important to us. And then bands came after us and we wanted to kind of separate from them. And we had never planned on touring with any of the bands from that era. There was no animosity — it was just that we put a very clear line. But when the [NEW YORK] DOLLS signed on, it made it seem like it was the right time to do that this tour."

In a February 2004 online posting, Sixx shot down reports that his then-band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION would be touring later that year with POISON and KISS. "No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON," he wrote. "We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us... I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit..." When questioned about his comments in a May 2004 interview with the Stamford Advocate, Sixx explained, "I was in negotiations and said it depends who else is on the tour. If you're going to do a nostalgia thing, we're not interested. If you go get JET or THE DARKNESS, it sounds like fun. All of a sudden they come back with KISS, the BRIDES and POISON! There ain't no way in hell I'm doing that tour. I will not play with fucking POISON. There are followers and leaders. I'm not into followers."

During a July 2005 interview with the Fox 2 TV network, Sixx famously closed out the four-minute chat by calling the interviewer "an asshole" after he was asked the question, "Who rocked harder in the '80s: MÖTLEY CRÜE or POISON?"

When POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was questioned in an August 2006 interview with DelcoTimes.com about Sixx being abrasively vocal in his displeasure about being categorized alongside POISON, Rikki replied, "Nikki really needs to get over it. I don't think a forty-something-year-old man should be acting like that; you'd think with all that Nikki has been through, he wouldn't care about these dumb little rivalries."

Why You Should Never....Ever Carry A Woman's Purse

So, I'm out last night with a few friends at a local establishment. The place is a bit crowded, rather warm and I'm wearing my jacket. After about 5 minutes it's getting quite hot and I decide I have to ditch my jacket. I ask the lady friend of mine who I rode with for her car keys so I can stash my jacket. She says sure and "can you put my purse in my car?" Without thinking, I say yes as I just wanted to get outside as quickly as possible. I grab her purse in one hand, my jacket in the other and head for her car. I take about 4 steps outside and realize what I'm doing. I'm carrying a humongous saddlebag of a woman's purse and this goes against everything I believe in. Not only carrying a purse, but carrying one from a woman I'm not even having sex with. Makes it waaaaay worse. I pick up my pace a bit and I feel this car slow down right next to me. A guy yells "hey buddy, is that your girlfriend's purse." Already irritated with the entire situation, I say "yeah it is, you f--in, ass...." and I as I turn to face the guy I realize "oh crap." It's a cop. "Uh, sorry, sir. I thought you were someone else. Uhhhhh, yeah, it's my girlfriend's purse. I'm just taking it to her car along with my jacket." Meanwhile, I've got her keys out hitting buttons and the car's beeping, trunk's opening, lights are flashing...."This is her car right here. She's about 2 blocks away from here. I can take you to her and you can ask her yourself." He sizes me up for a second and says "forget it."

Of course the cop is thinking I must have lifted the purse. Why else would any self-respecting man be carrying a purse so big that you could fit an entire Walgreens store in it, if he didn't steal it from some woman. I, however, am not self, nor respecting. Moral of the story is never, under any circumstances, carry a woman's purse. Not your wife's, not your girlfriend's, not your mom's, not even you side action's purse. Nothing good can ever come of it.

OZZY: God Bless Jack Osbourne

The new Ozzy Osbourne documentary produced by his and Sharon's son, Jack, is called God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, but Sharon says Jack has blessed Ozzy's life. In the documentary, she says Jack's getting sober in 2003 inspired Ozzy to kick his habit of drugs and alcohol for good. She says, "[Ozzy] works really hard for his sobriety and he deserves it."

God Bless Ozzy Osbourne premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Sunday. Sharon is in London covering the royal wedding for The Insider.

MOTLEY CRUE: So How Is Vince?

While Motley Crue is getting ready to hit the road this summer on their 30th anniversary tour, their singer Vince Neil is getting the bulk of the press, but not for their music. Having recently spent 30 days in jail and under house arrest for DUI, Neil was recently charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and disorderly conduct after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Alicia Jacobs, in Las Vegas. But, according to Motley bassist Nikki Sixx, Neil wants to get on with his life, admitting that he "made a mistake." If convicted, Neil could face another six months in jail and a $1,000 fine on each charge.

(PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA) A federal judge has ruled: It's okay for middle school students to love "Boobies". At issue was the ever-popular bracelets proclaiming a love of "Boobies". Proceeds from the sales go to fight breast cancer. Recently, two teenage girls were suspended from Easton Area Middle School for wearing the bracelets. U.S District Judge Mary McLaughlin wrote this week (quote) "The bracelets are intended to be and they can reasonably be viewed as speech designed to raise awareness of breast cancer." She sided with the teens & the girls' freedom to proclaim their love of Boobies.

AEROSMITH: New Album in May! No, Not That New

Aerosmith will release a new album in May, but it's not their long-awaited next studio album. It's yet another greatest hits album, but this one focuses on their so-called ballads recorded during their time with Geffen Records. Tough Love: Best of the Ballads contains 12 tracks, including "Dream On," "Love in an Elevator," "Livin' on the Edge" and "Rag Doll."

The rest of the songs are "Angel," "Amazing," "Cryin'," "What It Takes," "Crazy," "Deuces are Wild," "Blind Man" and "Janie's Got a Gun." It will be out on May 10th.

VAN HALEN: Done Recording?

Could Van Halen be done recording their first album in 27 years with David Lee Roth? A "trusted source" tells the Van Halen News Desk fan site that everything has been "going great and the band is starting to mix the new tracks," adding that it may be out in the fall followed by a tour. They have been working with producer John Shanks. Janie Van Halen, Eddie's wife and the band's spokeswoman, was unavailable for comment.

VINCE NEIL: Who Bruised Who?

Vince Neil says he was the one who was injured last week during a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend in a Las Vegas hotel. He says Vegas TV entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs dug her nails into his arm, leaving two bloody marks. Alicia has filed a battery report against him claiming he poked her shoulder and left a mark, a claim he denies.

Earlier this week Neil told the Las Vegas Weekly that there was a confrontation, but said there was "no hitting or touching."

Alicia ended their seven-month relationship earlier this month, claiming it was "due to the decisions Vince continues to make," which is reportedly a reference to his drinking. Neil recently completed serving 30 days for a 2010 DUI arrest.

SOUNDGARDEN Working On 'Very Diverse' New Album

Reunited grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN entered singer Chris Cornell's studio in Los Angeles earlier in the month to begin recording their first album in 15 years. Cornell tells Billboard.com in a new interview, "We're pretty far into our record now. I don't really know how to describe it musically, because typically with SOUNDGARDEN... every time we write a song we always take it for what it is and try to make it the most it can be. It's very diverse, I can tell you that."

Cornell says that that unlike the old days when the band was on a constant schedule of recording and touring, they're working in a much more relaxed way now.

"We went into this with the idea that we wouldn't worry about scheduling or timing," Cornell explains to Billboard.com. "We would worry about making a great record; that's kind of where we're at. It's been a pretty fast pace, considering everything. We've really gotten very far very quickly, and it's really exciting. But we're not putting any pressure on ourselves or around the music and just want it to organically be finished without being concerned that, 'Oh, we have to master this on this specific date.' We're not in a situation where we have to rush, and this is one time we're lucky enough that we can afford to...let the album decide when it's done."

Adam Kaspar, who co-produced SOUNDGARDEN's last record, 1996's "Down On The Upside", is working with the group on the new effort as well.

SOUNDGARDEN reunited in January 2010 but has only played a handful of gigs — including a headlining set at last August's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago — and issued a compilation titled "Telephantasm" last fall.

The band's first live album, called "Live On I5", came out on March 22 and was recorded on one of their final tours.

Cornell, who's going out on a solo acoustic tour this spring, told Spin that SOUNDGARDEN will play more live shows this year.

GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Can Now Be Yours For Just $1.99

Best Buy, which was the exclusive U.S. retailer for GUNS N' ROSES decade-plus-in-the-making album "Chinese Democracy", is offering a special deal on copies of the CD. You can now purchase the album via the BestBuy.com web site for just $1.99.

"Chinese Democracy" was a commercial disappointment upon its release in November 2008, selling just 614,000 copies in the U.S. so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The CD was officially certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 3, 2009 for shipments in the United States in excess of one million copies.

Best Buy paid $14 million for 1.6 million copies of the album, according to Hits.

Aside from Billboard and Spinner interviews and answering a number of fan questions at a GUNS N' ROSES message board, singer Axl Rose has done no promotion of any kind for "Chinese Democracy".

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal threw cold water on remarks by fellow GUNS axeman D.J. Ashba, who was quoted as saying at a party in Los Angeles late last year that the band was "throwing around a bunch of ideas" for a new album. Thal took to his Facebook page to set the record straight, saying, "We've yet to get in a room and write as a band. (I) know D.J. mentioned something about a new album, but don't want y'all expecting anything soon. Other than old unreleased songs, songs need to be written, jammed, recorded, tweaked, re-worked, re-recorded, mixed, re-mixed, mastered, re-mastered, art, new art, label approval, a game plan from the label that Axl [Rose, singer] approves . . . not as simple when it's on such a big scale . . . Just don't want ya getting frustrated if a GN'R album doesn't happen quick."

"Chinese Democracy" came out 15 years after its predecessor, 1993's "The Spaghetti Incident". It took more than a decade to record, during which every original member of the band except Rose was replaced and four different producers were used.

Nevertheless, Rose hinted in a 2002 interview that the lengthy sessions for the record had left him with enough material for two follow-ups.

Bassist Tommy Stinson, who has been playing in the current GUNS lineup for 12 years, told The Pulse Of Radio that he's always had confidence in Rose's vision. "I had doubts at certain points, and the thing that kept me going every time is that I would talk to Axl about this and that, his ideas about what we're doing and what we're gonna do and stuff like that," he said. "And every time, I just kinda had to stop and go, 'You know, he really knows exactly what he wants to get.' How to get there is another issue, but he knows what he wants, how he wants it to be. Every time I had a doubt, I would talk to him about stuff, and totally be back in it."

THE WHO: What the Hell Did I Do?

Pete Townshend says he regrets forming The Who and should have forged a solo career. "Even though I am quite a good gang member and a good trooper on the road, I am bad at creative collaboration," says Townshend. "I would have made a much more effective solo performer and producer working the way Brian Eno has worked." He also says he would be "less physically damaged today. My ears, right wrist and shoulder would work more efficiently. In all other respects I am in extremely good shape." The Who is on hiatus while Townshend continues to struggle with hearing problems as well as working on new music.

Who Should Play MÖTLEY CRÜE Members In 'The Dirt' Movie? The Screenwriter's Choices Revealed

New York Times pop music writer Neil Strauss, who, along with the members of MÖTLEY CRÜE wrote a weighty collective biography of the band called "The Dirt - Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band" in 2002, was asked in a brand new interview with MTV.com what the latest is on the film adaptation of "The Dirt". "I know they're looking at a few different directors for it," he replied. "I gotta say, the screenplay is amazing. I really hope they make it. I think it will be great. I think they're just scared because it's obviously going to be a hard R-[rated] movie. I think they're worried they won't make enough money off it." When asked if he had any thoughts or preferences on whom they might cast, Strauss replied, "No, but I got a text from the screenwriter, Rich Wilkes, and he told me who he'd love to see in the film. Here's who he sees: Brad Pitt as David Lee Roth, Jared Leto as Vince Neil, Jack Black or Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Patrick or Justin Timberlake as their first manager (a guy called Alan Kaufman), Sam Rockwell as Mick Mars, Ashton Kutcher or Russell Brand as Tommy Lee. He's got it all thought out. That would be amazing."

Rob Zombie recently denied the widely reported story that he was going to direct "The Dirt". Zombie told Australian web site Undercover, "No, I'm not doing the MÖTLEY CRÜE movie. I don't know where that rumor came from."

"That rumor" appeared to originate in a Billboard interview with CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, in which it was reported that Zombie would direct the on-again, off-again movie. Zombie has been attached to several projects over the last few years, including a remake of "The Blob", but his name has never come up in connection with "The Dirt".

It was reported in 2008 that MÖTLEY CRÜE was trying to extricate itself from a deal with MTV Films, a division of Paramount Pictures, to make the "The Dirt" movie.

A deal was first announced for the film version in 2006 but has since gone nowhere. Bassist Nikki Sixx told Reuters that MTV was "a channel that used to be hip and has now actually become unhip...They are not the right partner."

SAMMY HAGAR Thinks His Book Will Light Fire Under VAN HALEN

According to The Pulse Of Radio, former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar thinks his newly-released autobiography, which spills a lot of dirt about his days with the band, will get them riled up enough to make a great record with original frontman David Lee Roth. The group is currently in the studio with Roth for the first time since 1983, but Hagar told MTV Hive, "I heard it's not going so good. This is what I've heard through the grapevine, that they've already fired one producer and Ed [Van Halen] and Dave supposedly can't be in the same room together. If they can't be in the same room together, how can they make a record? I think I'm doing VAN HALEN a favor with my book. It may put a fire under their asses to swallow some pride and make another record for the fans."

Hagar's last album with VAN HALEN was 1996's "Balance", but he says that his relationship with Eddie was already crumbling at the time. "Ed needs somebody to make decisions and a leader, you know," he said. "He's not a natural born leader kind of guy. And his brother [drummer Alex Van Halen] was always the leader before or Roth was the leader before, and when Roth left, his brother and him bumped heads so much, when I walked in it was like, 'Well, what does Sam wanna do?' you know. So it became kind of like, yeah, I was making all the decisions, so then on 'Balance' all of a sudden he didn't like my decisions and it was like really weird."

Hagar and Roth actually toured together some years back, when neither man was involved with VAN HALEN, but Hagar shared his opinion of his VAN HALEN predecessor, saying, "Straight up? He's not a friendly guy. He's not a nice guy at all. And he's no freakin' fun. Here's a guy who makes an image out of being a party animal, getting the babes and having a good time. But on tour, you knock on his dressing room door and he won't come out . . . He is not the guy that I expected him to be. He's just an act. Or maybe he just didn't like me. Maybe I'm too much fun for him. Or maybe I sing too well and it scares him."

Hagar's book, "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock", arrived in stores last week. Hagar repeats in the book his claim that he was once abducted by aliens.

He has recently started recording the second album from CHICKENFOOT, the supergroup which also features ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Joe Satriani.

VAN HALEN reunited with Roth in 2007 for a massively successful world tour, and announced in January that they were entering the studio to record the first album with Roth on the mic since 1984.

MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE: I Would Love To Have ROB ZOMBIE Direct 'The Dirt'

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has backed away from his claim that Rob Zombie will direct the film adaptation of CRÜE's band biography "The Dirt - Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band".

Last week, Lee told Billboard.com that "we finally got a director" for the big screen version of 2002's "The Dirt". "Rob Zombie is going to direct," Lee said at the time, adding the on-again, off-again movie "is moving forward, which is nice 'cause it wasn't moving anywhere for quite awhile. Now things are moving forward." Lee subsequently clarified via email that, "I would LOVE to have Rob Zombie direct 'The Dirt', but far as I know that's not happening. I haven't heard that anyone has been picked yet. You know, the drummer's always the last to know. :) "

Zombie has been attached to several projects over the last few years, including a remake of "The Blob", but his name has never come up in connection with "The Dirt".

Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio why he's never really sure what his next project might be until it actually happens. "I mean, movies are weird because, like, people come to you, people that own the rights to things, and they want to do it, but sometimes just getting the funding to make the project go will take forever. That's why you're never quite sure what's next. Basically, whatever's next is usually whatever you can get the money for next."

Zombie's 's official next film as a writer and director is "The Lords Of Salem", about a 300-year-old coven of witches that comes back from the grave to menace the town of Salem, Massachusetts.

Zombie is scheduled to begin pre-production on the film this spring, once he has completed his current tour.

AEROSMITH: Perry Breaks Silence and Tyler Tweets

Joe Perry has broken his silence about not joining his Aerosmith bandmates during the Los Angeles writing sessions for their next album, which wrapped up last week. He writes on his Twitter page, "Let's get this straight. I am not leaving Aerosmith. I will be writing on the new CD. [I] just could not make the last eight day writing stint. We need all five members to write a real Aerosmith CD. We have plans to write in the spring for an extended time period." As for his relationship with Steven Tyler, he says, "Steven and I text all of the time. He's my brother in arms just like Brad [Whitford], Joey [Kramer] and Tom [Hamilton]. Everything else is a rumor."

Like Joe Perry and Joey Kramer, Steven Tyler now has a Twitter account. He also talks about the recent writing sessions, saying he wrote six songs, one of which is called "Oxygen," and that he is in "lyric hell." Tyler also says he found naked pictures of the band for his autobiography, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, which will be published on May 10th.

The results are lopsided: Packers fans have had more sexual partners. And they say they're getting busy at least 4 times a week. Looks like the Packers are winners on and off the field.

Ben Roethlisberger is paying extra special attention to his diet this week -- because when he was pounding drinks at a Texas bar Tuesday night ... he wanted his rum mixed with DIET COKE.

TMZ has obtained FOOTAGE of the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback hanging out at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar in Fort Worth Texas ... where he sang his face off from 11:00 PM until 1:15 AM the next morning.

Sources inside the bar tell us Big Ben arrived with two massive teammates -- and bought several rounds of drinks for himself AND the entire bar.

We're told Ben racked up an $800 tab -- and tipped an additional $200. People inside the bar tell us Ben was "nice, fun and took care of everyone."

In the clip, Ben can be seen singing along to the Billy Joel classic "Piano Man" while his teammates joined in on the fun.

RUSH: No New Album This Year

So much for Rush finishing up work on that new album this year. Their 2010 tour -- which included playing Moving Pictures in its entirety -- proved so successful that they're going back out this year. That means the album probably won't come out until 2012.

Guitarist Alex Lifeson tells Guitarist magazine, "We only have two or three more songs that we feel we need for the album. So we can start re-working the material and get it in great shape. Then we'll prepare for the tour in March, finish in July, take the summer off then start work in earnest in September."

Rush's tour starts March 30th in Sunrise, Florida.

AEROSMITH: Tyler Wants to Record New Album

Steven Tyler says he's ready to record a new Aerosmith album but that he's "having trouble getting Joe [Perry]." In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tyler, a judge on the new season of American Idol, says he doesn't know where Perry is. "I'm trying to rally the guys together... just come down to L.A. at the end of January sometime. I've had enough downtime... As far as Joe goes, look, the guy's got LSD - Lead Strummer Disorder. We've been brothers forever. He's just going through his thing... We just have to get together and put the [crap] together..."

A spokeswoman for Aerosmith had "no comment" on the Rolling Stone story.

Last month, Perry told us that he didn't see how Aerosmith could record an album this winter with Tyler being a judge on American Idol.

Aerosmith abandoned recording an album with producer Brendan O'Brien in the spring 2009. It would have been their first album of original material since 2001's Just Push Play.

VINCE NEIL: Saved by a Ghost

Motley Crue's Vince Neil says he was on the brink of suicide following the 1995 death of his four-year-old daughter Skylar from cancer -- but she saved him by appearing from beyond the grave. He tells the Biography Channel's Celebrity Ghost Stories, "I wanted to die. It went on for two years after she passed away. I was in eight or nine rehab clinics. I felt she was waiting for me, and the only place I wanted to go was to her... One night...I was sound asleep. I felt a tug on the blanket... It was her. She came every night for two weeks, and it turned my life around."

Neil founded the Skylar Neil Foundation in her memory. It raises money for children's cancer research.

In other Neil news, his trial on misdemeanor drunken driving and speeding charges has been pushed from January 6th to January 26th, due to a change in the judge on the case.

BRET MICHAELS: Schedules Heart Surgery

Bret Michaels, who spent a good part of 2010 in the hospital for various ailments, will undergo surgery to repair a hole in his heart on January 24th. He recently told People magazine, "I feel positive they're going to do an amazing job. I'd say if everything goes well, I'll spend about three days in the hospital."

Bret will go under the knife at the same hospital that treated him for his brain hemorrhage last April -- the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

The 2010 regular season of the NFL is officially in the books and the playoffs are set to begin next weekend.

While every team's fans can be annoying in some ways, there are some fan bases that really grate on everyone's nerves.

According to BroBible.com, here's a rundown of some of the most annoying NFL fan bases:

* Chicago Bears -- The biggest issue is that Bears fans think their franchise is better than it really is. One Super Bowl championship and two Super Bowl appearances in 44 years isn't much to brag about.

CHUG-A-LUG: Wisconsin Tops List Of Drunk Driving States

According to a new survey, more than 30 million Americans admit to having driven drunk in the previous year -- and more than 10 million say they drove while on illicit drugs.
And, the number one state in the union for drunk drivers was Wisconsin, followed closely by North Dakota.

While the average yearly rate of drunk driving is now at 13 percent, Wisconsin came in at 23.7 percent and North Dakota at 22.4 percent.

The highest rates for drugged driving are Rhode Island (7.8 percent) and Vermont (6.6 percent).

If you're looking for safe states with low rates of drunk driving, head for Utah (7.4 percent) and Mississippi (8.7 percent).

Iowa and New Jersey have the lowest levels of drugged driving (2.9 percent and 3.2 percent respectively).

VAN HALEN: More New Album Rumors

According to the unofficial VAN HALEN site Van Halen News Desk, VAN HALEN has tapped producer/songwriter/musician John Shanks (whom Clive Davis calls "the father of that guitar-driven kind of pop sound") to helm the band's upcoming studio album, which the group plans to begin recording in January. "Sources" tell the Van Halen News Desk that the members of VAN HALEN are "very eager to tour, and that they want to tour behind new material. Eddie Van Halen has been very busy during most of 2010 writing music," reads a posting on the site. "Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen often join Eddie in the 5150 studio and the three of them have been hard at work jamming and recording demos. The three Van Halens have been sending the music to David Lee Roth, who's adding the lyrics." Two of the site's "sources" have "heard some of the early versions of the tracks (without vocals) and were very pleased. The music is said to sound like straight ahead rock 'n' roll and 'very VAN HALEN.'" In addition, "the band is re-exploring Eddie's extensive library of unreleased songs and riffs, even reaching back to their early unreleased demos for added inspiration. The band is retooling and tweaking some of this mostly-unheard, incredible music, which have completely new lyrics from Roth. Eddie is even considering developing a song or two from the material that he wrote for 'The Wild Life' movie score in the mid-1980s."

Interestingly, VAN HALEN is allegedly planning on recording the next CD at John Shanks' Henson studio as well as the band's 5150 studio, making it the first time VAN HALEN will track an LP outside its own studio since it was built in 1983.

Larry Solters, the spokesman for VAN HALEN, recently dismissed as "untrue" a report the MelodicRock.com web site that indicated that work on the first VAN HALEN album in more than 25 years with David Lee Roth on vocals was moving forward. The site reported last month that the band had tapped producer Ross Hogarth (MÖTLEY CRÜE, COAL CHAMBER, FASTER PUSSYCAT, DEVILDRIVER) for the record, which was tentatively due out sometime in 2011. The report also stated that Roth was recording his vocal tracks at a different location than guitarist Eddie Van Halen's "5150" studio, adding that Eddie is "receiving various vocal tracks from the singer, but not always to the guitarist's satisfaction...it's a work in progress between Eddie and Dave."

The report also stated that Eddie had recorded most of the bass parts for the album. The band's touring bassist is his son, Wolfgang, who replaced founding member Michael Anthony.

Solters told MelodicRock.com that there is "no tour on the books" right now and "no new album on the books." He did, however, concede that the guys hung out together "working on stuff," but as of right now — there will be no album or tour in 2011.

Music publishing company Warner/Chappell Music announced in August that it had extended its publishing administration contract with guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen, noting that the band "is currently in the studio recording an album with (singer David Lee) Roth that is due for release in 2011."

Meanwhile, according to Billboard.com, VAN HALEN manager Irving Azoff, who is also the executive chairman of Live Nation, mentioned on two separate conference calls that VAN HALEN was expected to hit the road next year, presumably in support of a new record.

Word of a new VAN HALEN album, the band's first with David Lee Roth on the mic since 1983, first began circulating in late June when MelodicRock.com reported from an unnamed source that the project was halfway completed.

VAN HALEN spokesperson Janie Van Halen, Eddie's wife, denied the rumors, telling Rolling Stone, "I don't have any updates at this time."

Eddie himself told Rolling Stone last year that he was working on material for a new record, but was waiting for his hand to heal from surgery and for Wolfgang to graduate from high school.

A new VAN HALEN record would be the band's first full studio effort since 1998's "Van Halen III", which featured Gary Cherone on lead vocals.

VAN HALEN's 2008 reunion tour with Roth grossed more than $93 million and drew nearly one million fans to 74 shows.

BRET MICHAELS Says POISON And MÖTLEY CRÜE Will Join Forces For North American Tour

According to The Windsor Star, POISON singer Bret Michaels announced during last night's (Saturday, November 13) solo concert at Caesars Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada that POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE will celebrate their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, in 2011 by joining forces for a tour. No further information is currently available.

In a February 2004 online posting, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx shot down reports that his then-band BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION would be touring later that year with POISON and KISS. "No way in fucking hell would we (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION or MÖTLEY CRÜE) ever, ever tour with a fucking band like POISON," he wrote. "We have had talks with KISS and I told them very clearly that we would not do the tour if they used POISON. That would be the death of us... I will not be attached to that kind of fake bullshit..." When questioned about his comments in a May 2004 interview with the Stamford Advocate, Sixx explained, "I was in negotiations and said it depends who else is on the tour. If you're going to do a nostalgia thing, we're not interested. If you go get JET or THE DARKNESS, it sounds like fun. All of a sudden they come back with KISS, the BRIDES and POISON! There ain't no way in hell I'm doing that tour. I will not play with fucking POISON. There are followers and leaders. I'm not into followers."

During a July 2005 interview with the Fox 2 TV network, Sixx famously closed out the four-minute chat by calling the interviewer "an asshole" after he was asked the question, "Who rocked harder in the '80s: MÖTLEY CRÜE or POISON?"

When POISON drummer Rikki Rockett was questioned in an August 2006 interview with DelcoTimes.com about Sixx being abrasively vocal in his displeasure about being categorized alongside POISON, Rikki replied, "Nikki really needs to get over it. I don't think a forty-something-year-old man should be acting like that; you'd think with all that Nikki has been through, he wouldn't care about these dumb little rivalries."

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry seems to have softened his stance on Steven Tyler's becoming a judge on American Idol. He tells Spinner.com, "Steven wants to spend time in L.A. and do this. He's always talked about doing stuff like that, and I think he wants to try his hand at that... I hope he's really happy doing it."

Though Perry hasn't addressed a new Aerosmith album, he does see a future for the group. "I'm optimistic about it. I know that the band will always somehow put something together and play, whether it's two or three weeks out on the road and playing this or that or some charity stuff. I do not think this band is going to see its last show."

AEROSMITH: Tyler's Take on Next Album

Despite being a judge on American Idol, Steven Tyler says Aerosmith will record a new album. He says, "We're gonna work on it while I'm doing Idol. Idol's two days a week. So I'm gonna be living in L.A. at the time. So the band'll come back and forth and we'll work on it."

Tyler is also acknowledging the reported tension between him and his bandmates, namely Joe Perry. "We went through a period there -- a slow period -- where everybody was not feeling so good... But this did nothing but bring the band together and make it stronger."

The next season of American Idol starts up in January.

Researchers: OZZY OSBOURNE Six Times More Likely Than Average Person To Get Hooked On Booze

This morning's edition of the Fox News morning news program "Fox & Friends" featured an interview with Nathan Pearson, the director of research at Knome, a Cambridge, Massachusetts company that has just finished analyzing Ozzy Osbourne's blood and DNA in hopes that it would give them insight into how drugs are absorbed in the body, and why some people can survive extreme substance abuse while others can't. You can now watch the segment below.

The results reportedly showed Ozzy was 6.13 times more likely than the average person to get hooked on booze and 1.31 times more prone to cocaine addiction. Doctors also found a twist in a gene that means Ozzy can soak up more alcohol than most. In addition, Ozzy, 61, was told by the researchers studying his DNA that he is the descendant of a Neanderthal man.

Commented Ozzy: "That won't come as much of a surprise to the missus, or various police departments around the world. This is big news for blokes everywhere, if the Neanderthals could get laid, there's hope for us all."

He also joked about sharing DNA with the Vesuvius victims.

"If any of the Roman Osbournes drank nearly as much as I used to, they wouldn't have even felt the lava. They could have just walked it off," he said.

The testing reportedly cost around $40,000.

Although he's sober now, Ozzy estimates that he took drugs and used alcohol for more than 40 years, according to Rolling Stone.

He also survived a 2003 bike accident in which he broke his neck and was diagnosed a few years back with a genetic disorder that is similar to Parkinson's Disease.

Ozzy recently started a new gig as a health columnist for England's Sunday Times. In the first installment of the column — which is being largely ghostwritten by his memoir co-writer, Chris Ayres — Ozzy admitted, "By all accounts, I'm a medical miracle. When I die, I should donate my body to the Natural History Museum."

LYNYRD SKYNYRD: Man Who Inspired Name Dies

Leonard Skinner, the Jacksonville, Florida gym teacher and basketball coach whose name inspired the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Lynyrd Skynyrd, has died. Skinner, who was 77, died in a Florida nursing home yesterday from Alzheimer's. A man who disliked rock and roll, Skinner was known for sending his students at Robert E Lee High School to the principal's office if he felt their hair was too long. Gary Rossington, an aspiring rock and roller, was one of them.

But the by-the-book teacher, who said his '60s attitude was simply the result of following the rules, later made peace with the band. He once introduced them onstage in Jacksonville. And he even gave them permission to use a photograph his of his Leonard Skinner Realty sign on the inside fold of their third album.

Sex Survey: Nearly 2-out-of-5 Men Have Lost Count of Lovers

A new "Sex Survey" shows that the genders are evenly matched when it comes to the number of partners they've had. That's true until you get to the extremes. About twice as many women than men claim to be a virgin or have only one partner in their lifetime - their spouse.

Meanwhile, men don't mind bragging about conquests. Nearly 40% said in this sex survey that they've slept with more than 20 women. A large percentage have lost count because they were too drunk to remember her name.

In between those extremes, men and women are about the same: One-quarter have had between 2 & 5 lovers. One-in-5 people say they've had up to 6 sex partners, and one-sixth admit to hooking up with more than 11, but fewer than 20 people.

Guys NOT Attracted to Bigfoot But to Women with Small Feet

Women attract men by their appearance. But would you believe that guys are unusually attracted to women with small feet? Jeremy Atkinson, at the University of Albany, says it's true. He "morphed' together the headshots of several women with small feet. Heterosexual men found the composite photo far more attractive than the one featuring the faces of women with the biggest feet.

Doctor Atkinson says (quote) "Women with smaller feet have prettier faces. So do women with longer thigh bones and narrower hips, as well as women who are taller overall. We've tested all these features on straight guys and the contest isn't even a close one."

Aerosmith were hoping to follow up their current tour by recording their first album of original material in nine years, but guitarist Joe Perry writes on his Twitter page that it "ain't gonna happen." He says the band's playing better than ever and that he wishes they can go right back in the studio, but apparently Steven Tyler's reported role on American Idol will prevent them from doing that.

Aerosmith abandoned their recording sessions last year with producer Brendan O'Brien after Tyler came down with pneumonia. Asked if they'll pick up where they left off with O'Brien, bassist Tom Hamilton tells us, "I don't know... It's a bit of the unknown right now."

1. "Fine." She uses this in an argument to tell you it's time to shut up.

2. "Five minutes." If she's getting dressed, "five minutes" means more like 30-minutes. If you're watching a game and she gives you "five minutes," then five minutes means five minutes.

3. "Nothing." "Nothing" means something, and you're going to find that out in a big way very soon.

4. "Go ahead." This is a dare. Be careful, because if you "go ahead" and do whatever it is you want to do, things are going to get ugly.

5. Loud sigh. This non-verbal word means she thinks you're an idiot and she's wondering why she's wasting her time on you.

6. "That's OK." This is a delay tactic. She just needs some more time to figure out how to make you pay.

7. "Thanks." She's genuinely thankful, so you need to just "you're welcome" and then back away. If she says "Thanks a lot," she's being sarcastic and you're in big trouble if you say "you're welcome."

8. "Whatever." This is bad. This is real bad. This is like the middle finger.

9. "Don't worry about it. I got it." You haven't done something she's asked you to do many times and now she's really mad.
